This is going to be a Diary of sorts on the Allied economy, In China mostly, so that the RHS team and the rest of the forum community can get a feel for how it works in RHS scenarios. NY59GIANTS and myself will be playing scenario 129 which is a level 2 scenario. Of course battle and movement info will be posted. Comments and questions welcome. I will be back....GP

Attached here is the Econ Document from RHS. It's about 7 pages but gives you a good idea on the economics of RHS....GP

Some settings we are using are; Hex side details ON, Historical first turn OFF, and PDU ON. This scenario has the Soviets active, but they will not attack except to even a score. Also attached is the House Rules Doc for RHS for your reading pleasure....GP

Finally some RHS stuff.

The Chinese theatre in RHS gives me headaches. At least failure is an option now, 'cause you can now walk to Lhasa after the fall of Chungking and create the Festung Tibet supplied from India.

We had started, but ran into a few issues which have been solved now. Plus some more new features have been added. I'm hoping to have a turn from Michael sometime tomorrow. I'll post again as soon as I finish the 12/07/41 orders....GP

That's true. However I have never lost China or come close. Well there's always a first time.[:D]....GP

Note that in ALL RHS test games so far Chunking has never fallen. I do NOT expect it to fall in ANY
RHS game, in any scenario, regardless of the competence of the Chinese player.

But IF Chunking fell, I do NOT think the Tea and Horse Caravan Road, which is present, is a good path
to use for an invasion of India. In historical scenarios it is a long secondary road with almost no
sources of supply and locations for good airfields along it. In Japan Enhanced Scenarios, it is upgraded
to a primary road - but still not a good way to go. Also - Tibet has a static army: two of its units
guard Tibet's two biggest towns which are on that road, and which can be fortified. [The third unit is
in the third largest town, on a branch road on the historical trade route to Mongolia].

We have three test games in which professional US military teams (five or six players) DID invade India:
Bengal twice (once successfully), and Ceylon once (a spectacular failure which MIGHT have succeeded with
a different choice of landing site). What potential there is to invade India lies in exploiting the sea
approaches to it early in 1942. Waiting for the historical Japanese invasion period means the Allies are
too strong and have built critical roads and rail lines.

China has been given all its units, its Marine Corps, its riverine naval forces, its medium artillery,
the 200th Motorized Division and many capabilities which were historically present but missing from AE stock
and other mods. Also, Sinkiang and two other provinces are occupied by Soviet allied troops, including
NKVD regiments: Japan cannot enter that part of China without starting a war with the USSR. Sian appears
impossible to capture - it has been surrounded three times but never lost. Unless abandoned by the Allies,
I do not expect it to fall.

Well I have received Michael's first turn.

So my first turn consisted of;
1. Checking and changing orders for TF's at sea,
2. Making sure the Soviets don't attack the Japanese, and
3. Working in China.

In China, Do to the changes from stock, I setup some cargo TF's on the rivers and starting some ground units moving. China in RHS is a theater upon itself unlike stock. There is a lot of new concepts and a rebuilt Chinese OOB. I highly recommend reading the Chair 3 documentation in the RHS Docs folder before starting a game as the Allies.

Stay Tuned....GP

We're up to turn 4 now. The allied economics, Expecially in China are exhausting. But interesting. Right now I'm moving, with great trouble from enemy air, Small AKL's and some other ships up rivers to help out inland, As i'm sure Michael will be moving to take the coast. there's many resource locations on the coast. Around the rest of the map, pretty standard stuff so far from Michael, except for a jab into the Southeastern DEI's. I'll try to post a screen shot or two in my next post....GP

Do you have any house rules for this game?

Yes we have HR's. Most are the standard ones that everyone uses. But their are RHS HR's. I'll attach them.

As far as turns go, We are at 12/12/41 at the moment and I'm still moving Chinese naval units to inland ports for resource movement. Doing so on the coast is to dangerous....GP

Any updates?

Sorry for the late responds. This PBEM has been terminated due to issues Michael was having with production. For now we have moved on the a game of Between the storms lite. One thing I will say from the Allied side is that the Chinese economy does work pretty well once you get the ships moving on the rivers....GP

Hi GP

Am interested in what the issues were with production? Do you mean lack of resources or actual production of planes or something else?

Also, if there are unresolved issues do you know if these have been fixed in RHS2 2.51?

How playable is 2.51?

Thanks

I believe that Sid has fixed the production problems. That was the main issue. This is a scenario for very experienced players bye the way....GP

do you mean because of the lack of clear concise documentation?

Oh, Sid has a very complete documentation folder. But to your question, No. It's a very detail oriented and sort of complicated mod. Lots of fun but tough to get right....GP
