Desert Storm 91 - PRChina v0.5b
-- hypothesis Gulf War between PR.China and Iraq
Date: February 23 - March 22, 1991
Location: Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia
Map Scale: 5 Km per hex
Time Scale: 1 day per turn
Unit Scale: Battalion/Regiment/Brigade
Length: 30 turns
Human player: Either or both sides
UNIT COLORS
COALITION FORCES:
China People's Liberation Army(PLA): Yellow on Yellow
People's Liberation Army Air Force(PLAAF): Blue on Yellow
IRAQI FORCES
The Republican Guard - Teal Green/Brown
Iraqi Regular Units - Rust/Brown
The key point of this scenario is to test how to use a extremely huge but obsolete army against Iraqi Forces in a alternative Gulf war.
The contemporary PLA forces are huge but lack of up-to-date weapons.
Three PLA Fronts with 17 Armies consisting of 63 divisions and 7 tank brigade.
Among them there are 25 half-motorized "NB" (North, Cat B) infantry divisions with poor firepower and equipment. Use them to "swarm to" and overwhelm the Iraqi perimeters.
Two types of motorized infantry division are involved in the scenario: the "NAM" (North, Cat A, Motorized) division and the "NBM"(North, Cat B, Motorized) division which is about 2/3 size of the former one.
Pay attention to the most elite PLA 38th and 39th Army. The only two PLA mechanized infantry division (112th and 116th) are belong to them. Use them wisely.
The Chinese Air Force PLAAF is also huge but full of old planes, mainly of Chinese built MiG-19. Try to seize the air superiority from the more up-to-date while smaller Iraqi Air Force.
