Two questions

Just getting back into this great game but there are two fundamental issues I have never properly understood :
1. How to calculate or visualize ship range. For example a ship may have a range that is 189% of system diameter. What is system diameter and where do you see it ?
2. When setting up a new game I notice there are 5 optional story events. Do most players enable all, some or none of these ?
What is the effect of these story events on the game ? Do they make the game more challenging or do they just add more background events for immersion ?
Any clarification of these issues would be much appreciated.

1. Ship Range would be half of what is shown in the diameter. i.e enough fuel for the ship to go to a system and return back to refuel.
2. There is really only 1 story, i always enable it(i have never met the end game threat anyway). I like the story in Distant Worlds, adds immersion IMHO. And as for late game challenge... From what i see on the forum, Majority of the players have a hard to winning against the "Late game challenger"

Thanks LordMM.
However I still don't get the range/diameter thingy. Is it the diameter of your home system or any system your ship is in ? Is there no simple way to see the range of your ships on the system map ?

IF you select a ship and go to the galaxy map, you will see a broken line circle, that circle you see around that selected ship is its maximum range, HAlf of that is where it can go to and return back to refuel.

But keep in mind that engaging in combat burns additional fuel, which isn't accounted for in that range circle.
