early testing of UI, graphics, options

I've spent my first 20 or so minutes with the game button pushing, options changes, tried multiplayer email mode.
Found no problems. I'm assuming that the grayed out settings/options simply haven't been implemented yet, or are not viable for the scenario.
Most everything I've tried so far is user-friendly, intuitive. I'd like to see even more tooltips.
I would also have preferred a volume control. I think most players would like to have their computer volume stay the same, while being able to change the game volume. I was pleased that turning off music is remembered between sessions, including any startup music.
The map is excellent, as are counters. In sprite mode I had some difficulty seeing the French infantry units.
Overall impression as of first 20 mintues is very positive.
