On 3D an Army is 4 figures and a corps is 3 figures, they look way too similar. A heavy cruiser and Battle cruiser same statement. A quick
visual I.D. recognition should instant upon looking at the map. A lot of players will be new to the game and the differences should be obvious
. Also Hubert you have semi promised me since SC2 that you may include adjusting experience levels on multi player. I.E if I wanted to play with my Great Nephew now as my Nephew is to old to be considered young
Let me play as the Allies at 0 experience and him play the Germans at + 2 . You could code the choice in and have to be accepted by both players.
We need to grow a new generation of gamers. Build a fun game they can beat their old evil great uncle and they will!

The visualization of the infantry/cavalry with a numerically ascending "figure number" I find quite useful. If you want to identify the units even more clearly, the NATO symbols could be the best choice. The ship units are difficult indeed. How can we represent the difference of battle cruisers and battleships in a single sprite? In fact, the difference lies only in the speed and the armor. Personally I'm a fan of the hybrid representation, i.e. a mixture of Nato and 3D/Sillouette display.

Here it is a matter of how the Brain perceives the image on the heavy cruisers add that little brown deck area that is in the front to back possibly?
On the ground infantry unit Garrison 1 man corps 2 men Army 3 , when you have 3 vs 4 it is too easy to see them as too similar vs different.
