In several fighters there is really not an extended and normal rangs. It is just fill the tank to the top and that is it.
It means obviously that extended range and normal range are the same. Is a problem for the game engine to put the extended range equal to normal range?

A cursory look at database seems that Susei Jets are the only ones with both values equal.

Fighters can use drop tanks which significantly extend their range. I'm not privy to what the game designers were thinking, perhaps they consider normal range to be internal fuel only and with drop tanks extended range. Logistically, the fighters in question would have to be supplied with drop tanks and have the plumbing installed to use them. Again, this might not be a level of detail the game designers can handle.

Also, are by "Susei Jets" are you referring to the Yokosuka D4Y Suisei Navy Carrier Dive bomber (which was a prop-driven aircraft) or some late-war experimental jet?

That is not the question since i am talking about extended and normal range. So DT or not does not mater. I can rationalize as if the extended range is only applied for range on limits, in practical terms following the general practice i am taking 1 range (hex) down in all normal range compared to extended range.


Susei jet is Japanese version of Me 163. Actually i should have said rocked, since propulsion is not a jet. In game daBabes scenario it has 1 range for extended and 1 range for normal.

Frankly that the Japanese developed a flyable copy of the Komet is news to me. That explains the short range, since the Germans developed it as a point-defense weapon.

Before I went back into the Air Force full time I worked for Shell Chemical Company making 99.9% Hydrogen peroxide, what the Germans called T-Stoff. At 80-85% purity, this was the oxidizer for the rocket in the Me-163. Because it spontaneously ignites any hydrocarbon it contacts, use of T-stoff made it unnecessary to have an ignition system if you could get the plumbing right. I am sure the Japanese not only had aerodynamic challenges to overcome, production and delivery of the very dangerous material must have been quite a chore.
