Most important thing to review

Hi
Playing a few games online, looking at the counters, does the manual show a good description? I always play NATO counters and view the game at middle view, not close up.
A lot of information is on the counters. When attacking, I just need some suggestions.
Thanks

Hi demjansk,
I think it comes down to personal preference with the counters. I just worked out what the counter stats were by comparing them to the actual unit info at the bottom of the screen. Readiness is a good one to know, particularly if you're on the offense.
I also use Nato but with the counters in "spread out" mode. It gives me a feel of just where everyone is and you can directly select a unit from the hex (provided there aren't too many units) without having to cycle through units. I find this mode of display great when trying to organize an effective offensive.
So basically use whatever mode you feel comfortable with. It's not how the info is displayed but what you do with it..........my humble 2cents...fellow gamers feel free to correct me....
-don't attack on low readiness
-bombard-airstrike(if feasible)-land attack in that order.
-Arty..no need to blast away every turn..try and stockpile..much more effective. I rotate my arty.
-increase retreat percentage for important attacks
-depending on overall strategy, timetable etc...better to bypass and pocket the enemy than direct assault. Not always possible.
-use commander cards..it's all in the timing...ie.Offense...attack with other units..make a hole..then play a "speed" card on an uncommitted Arm/Pz/Mech and watch it go! Defense..remember my southern Soviet flank in our Kharkov game? That was good terrain and "hold" played at appropriated times.
Anyway...your turn...
Cheers
