We at the AOW forum keep alot of funny threads....visit us more often.

For the first time in that forum something that hasn't turned into a flamming match and was actually entertaining to read. ROTFLMAO;)

My first excursion into AoW in a lonnngggggggg time.

There are a pair of radio commenttors whose names escape me, other than if they wanted they could probably be logical successors to Bob and Ray.

I caught them on one of the TV news channels and their analysis of the French situation was simple: France will follow anything in a helmet. Once the fighting starts and the present coalition is WINNING, the
French will suddenly start supporting us.

Paul omiited one item: Agincourt, where the French literally stood around arguing while the English pulled up their stakes, moved FORWARD, reset their stakes and now being within longbow range commenced picking off the French nobles, who apparently preferred death by longbow to conceding an argument to a fellow commander.

After giving the English more than sufficient time to set up their defenses, including squads of crossbows which would catch the French in a deadly crossifre, they decided the day was getting on and they had better charge. They had comiitted what seems to be every possible
error of tactical warfare. The one exception was surprise, which neither side would most likely have been able to achieve anyway.

Any wonder Agincourt goes down in history as an amazing English victory? Remember, the French outnumbered the English, had lots more heavy cavalry and were supposed to win. They made sure they didn't.

History charges the French with no having a plan of battle for Agincourt. This is not true, some years ago documents were discovered which proves the French had drawn up a plan the night before the battle, and had committed it to paper. Since following it might have meant they would win, they discarded the plan and went for confusion and chaos instead. The English have always loved them for it.
