Computer vs Computer

This is always a great way to test a scenario when other players are not available.

- There does not appear to be a way to stop the scenario mid battle to obtain a score.
- The minimum test time for a full test would be the 4 hour minimum scenario time which means you would to tie up the PC for that length of time. Unless there is a way to task switch and run the new scenario in the background.

Am I correct in these assumptions? Are there any tips to speed up the testing process? The only thing I can thing of is sending the test scenario to a designer with a lot of experience who could then "eye ball" the set up, OOB, victory conditions, etc. to see if they make sense.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

some suggestions towards your goal of fast automated testing:
- you can have the game create automatic save files after each player's order phase, which it will do for the first computer player (not both). These save games will allow you to inspect the game "mid battle". Also set the scenario to allow you to inspect the spotted enemy units for more info.
- you can speed up the game by changing the Default game delay factor to 0.

Thank you. Speeding up play will help big time. The battle is already fairly well balanced. But I would like to experiment with VP values and location re: the AI behavior.

For max speed, also turn off the tooltips, sound, hit animations, and scrolling to fighting units. You will still get arty and smoke animations, but turning off the scrolling and hit anims will greatly speed up a turn.
