Operation and Transport confusion

I've got many units in the Middle East and Egypt that needed to be moved to the Russian front. I'm not quite sure why but units in many places on railroads are not about to move operationally. Same goers for transports. I have plenty of transport slots available but a bunch of ports in Libya and and West Egypt will not allow me to embark.

Also, for some reason the British and Canadians are able to land normal transports (not amphibious transports) in Egypt even though I own it and they have no friendly units there. They are doing it via Suez canal area and are not using ports. They are doing this with both Army infantry and Squad infantry.

That sounds like the supply value of your resources isn't sufficient, as it has to be at least 5 for land units to operate or enter transports.

Or a lack of MPPs?

With Transports, you only have a limited number so if their Build Limit has been reached, unloading some in their destinations will free the Transports up for use elsewhere.

Could the British and Canadians be using Amphibious Transports (Long Range)?

It's a unit type the Axis don't have so its icon should probably look slightly different from your own Amphibious Transports.

Bill, I had no transports going at all when trying to load up and send them off and hundreds of MPP. I'll see if I saved the game at that point because currently I am able to transport. But the effected ports were: Tobruk, Alexandria, and Suez. When I had a ton of units crowded there for 6 turns I was not able to transport out.

The British and Canadian units were most definitely normal transports. When I look at the unit sheets, the British and Canadian amphibious transports are the same as the German and U.S. ones. The little landing craft vs. the large traditional looking transport. While I held the Suez Canal AND the port itself and had units stationed there, the Canadians and British were landing full army units on the hex 209,127 and hex 210,128 - once again even though I owned them.

Is it possible there is a coding error where the British or Canadians are assigned to use the wrong icon? The transports they were using are the 6th row from the bottom on the icon sheet. It would make sense if they are supposed to be using the 5th row or 4th row from the bottom. Otherwise somehow the map is messed up and they are able to land non-amphibious ships on those two hexes, but then again that wouldn't make sense because they would have to be controlled by the AI to land normal transports there.

You can have all the MPPs in the world and still not be able to load units onto transports if they are sitting in a town/city with a port if the port isn't at least at a supply level of 5 or greater. If less than 5 then you can't create a transport ship.

I'm sure you're right as that must have been the issue. At that point we were hitting each other hard so those ports were probably knocked down.

So now just need to find out how the British and Canadians were landing troops from normal transports. [:)]

I've just run a test on my end and haven't been able to repeat the ability of regular transports (for the AI) to unload in enemy controlled ports. If you ever come up with this situation again, the easiest way for me to see what might be happening is for me to be able to run the AI turn where it performs what you described.
