Initial Impressions (Blackadder)

Initial Impressions:

- No animated start…perhaps/assume coming.
- 180-page rulebook – to me a sign of a reasonably complex game.
- Music good and main screen fine, albeit music quickly turned off. :)
- Settings easily changed.
- Selected first campaign, chose Axis then realised hadn’t tinkered with assistance % and selected cancel…but took straight back to main menu. Would have preferred the cancel to go to previous menu or perhaps a back button.

After 5 mins:

- Map and counters excellent. 2D and 3D. I normally dislike 3D but these are lovely and easy on the eyes. Spent time scrolling the map and admiring it. Good size and coverage for scale. Great color mix. Excellent work on this...very impressive.
- My first thoughts were “please make a Pacific version/expansion for this in time !”.
- Two map zoom settings fine.
- When having a unit selected, and then pressing ESC, drops out to Win10. Was hoping ESC would de-select unit.
- Window/display edges not overly cluttered…gives impression that not too complex (unlike a War in the East/West).

After 30mins:

- Movement of units very easy.
- Odds window at bottom handy, clear and a good size.
- Undo button for moves not apparent…sort of tend to use a bit but couldn’t find when had unit selected.
- Pop-up messages good. Not too much information – kept essential. But no option to reduce display time unless click mouse to close. Perhaps add option in settings to control ?
- Comprehensive list of scripts.
- Getting hang of combat and movement, now to look into the other options that go hand-in-hand.
- Moved submarines around because I could, and with no aim. I’ll restart game and look at greater picture, and play a bit more seriously. I’ve actually enjoyed just looking at it and noting scale/scope/map etc.

After 60mins:

Coming...

Cheers !

Andrew

You will want to keep moving them around. Destroyers are on the way to get you. [:D]
