I have noticed a couple of times that I get negative MPPs from convoys that are being attacked by the Allies.

The latest was -12 MPP from the Norway convoy.

About convoys, why does the British convoy travel all the way to America to then go to Russia?

The latest was -12 MPP from the Norway convoy.

So Germany is effectively being deducted 12 MPPs, rather than receiving Norway's MPPs minus 12?

That does sound wrong.

If I understand correctly the arrows in the convoy line indicate the way the convoy goes by.
When selecting the Artic convoy I get the following image.



If you take a look at the convoy route on the map it departs from Glasgow



and it goes all the way near North America, here I can't tell if it turns somewhere in the Atlantic or not since it blends with other convoy routes. In the second picture you can see how it comes from America and then travels to Russia.



Am I getting something wrong?
