So Slow... am I missing settings?

As a big fan of the COH series as a boardgame, I purchased the entire COH series with high hopes. I have been frustrated by the user interface, which seems clunky and makes the game take forever to play. One of my pet peeves is when action takes place at two widely separated places on the map. For example, in the Hoth 2 scenario in Ghost divisions, there are two separate battle areas at the East and West ends of the map. If I am controlling units on the West End, and the computer is controlling units on the other, the game scrolls ever-so-slowly back-and-forth in between moves. It is almost impossible to keep track of what is happening, and each turn takes a minute to play instead of 5 seconds. Am I missing a setting that would prevent the interminable scrolling and just move to the other unit? I set "Delay" to "No Delay", but this doesn't seem do anything.

In a similar vein of user interface frustration, I have been having trouble making the system recognize my mouse clicks. I think I am moving a unit or plotting artillery, click the mouse button, and nothing happens. It sometimes takes several clicks. Do I need to click and hold?

I hope these are just settings instead of intrinsic problems with the game.

I am using Windows 10 and just downloaded the game and checked updates, so I should have the latest version.

Check under Preferences | Game Play | Auto Camera Move to "No Automatic Motion." That should end the automatic scrolling.

If I recall correctly, Game Delay on that same menu is the delay after the AI makes a move before the camera returns to your unit and the turn returns to your control. How slowly do you mean by "ever so slowly"? In the scenario "The Monsters" it takes maybe 1 second to pan back and forth for me. Is it much longer for you?

I don't know why you are having problems with mouse-clicks. I remember that some users had mouse problems, but, if I recall correctly, these were people who were using non-standard input devices. But it sounds as though you are just using a standard mouse configuration?

Please attach a DxDiag report file to your post.

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8/10 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8/10)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
