Do you still have to set the USAAF and IJAAF units to Naval Interdiction in order to get them to attack ships?

yes you do for most types of ac. i believe torp bombers and some other specific types do not and will attack on normal settings

All units flying fighter-bombers will attack ships without needing to be set on "Naval Interdiction". (Units flying "pure" fighters can also do it, but they will attack with strafing only, meaning without much effect.) Units flying medium or heavy bombers will need to be set to Naval Interdiction, unless the bomber type can use torpedo ordnance. Specifically, these planes are the Beaufort and Beaufighter on the Allied side, and the G3M and G4M on the Japanese side.

There is one more cute trick now available. Squadrons flying the Blenheim medium bomber will be given the option to upgrade to the Vengeance dive-bomber. The Vengeance is an all-around superior plane--and since it's a dive-bomber, it can attack ships without the "Naval Inderdiction" setting.

It can be argued that only UK squadrons should be allowed to fly the Vengeance, since that is what happened historically. Note that the Vengeance was actully made in the US, and a number of planes were given to the Army for evaluation. In a two-player game, I would strongly consider banning all USMC squadrons from flying the Vengeance, on the grounds that the Navy department refused the aircraft. Otherwise, all bases with USMC squadrons become deadly to the IJN for up to five hexes' distance!

i thought the Vengeance was an Australian plane ?
Mistaken becasue Australia used a lot of it ?

On naval interdiction : i put all my Sbd's and Torp on CV's on NI in order to avoid them attacking airfields or supply depots when they have great TF's next door.
In doing so i hope they will only fly to attack vessels.
i don't do it for fighters, as they are not supposed to attack naything that moves.
