Trouble with UI on Steam Version after Windows 10 Update

Hi there,

I play Command on a Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10. After the most recent game update (around Brexit Live), the issue of switching between large and small fonts in the menus returned after a long absence, but the game remained perfectly playable. Then, after my computer updated (I believe it was the Windows Update of August 31), the font issues worsened, the unit status panel got scrunched off to the side so as to become unreadable/unusable, and the game now crashes shortly after I try to start a scenario (it never used to do that). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game; editing DPI values in the Command.ini file, and deleting that file. Nothing has worked. Would be very grateful for your help.

Cheers--

FWIW, you are not alone with the havoc that freaking update has caused. I immediately rolled back. But the affects linger.
My games run but the screen displays stuff awkwardly, for me anyway. I can't help your specific situation but those who can will post soon.

Kevin

PS: don't you hate it when your system, set-up over months and months, is set back and you have to do it all over again for every program. I was starting to believe in WIN 10.

Hi all,

We issued an emergency hotfix for the stability issues _probably_ caused by the Win10 Redstone-1 update, see here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/321410/di ... 4531849000

This will also be included in the upcoming v1.11 SR5.

The feedback we have received so far is that this resolves the crash problem, although high-DPI issues remain on the info panels on the right column. We are working to resolve those separately.

Thanks.

Hi, Sunburn,

Thanks very much. I tried to unzip the new Command file into the program files where I think Steam keeps everything, but so far it hasn't worked--DPI still problematic, mission status bar still squished, and the game crashed after I tried to create a group of two patrol craft (small Iran scenario I've been using as a diagnostic). Which file does it need to go in, the general one or something more specific (I searched for "installation" but didn't find anything besides unit symbols)?

Hi Sunburn,

i still have a crash problem with a windows dpi scaling greater than 100%. See exception log at: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4139924&mpage=2&#4142936. The patch doesn't change anything for me. Any news about this?

Andre

CommanderS < The file Command.exe must be dropped in the CMANO installation folder, and it overwrites the existing Command.exe .

deagu < I don't see any exception log by you on that thread. Also we'll need far more details on your OS and environment and what exactly steps are producing the issue. Remember: We are not inside your head. The first problem in solving a problem is to describe/understand it well.

Thanks!

Hi Sunburn!

Sorry, that i did not provide enough information and didn't mention the attached exception log file in my recent post (file at post #37 in the thread i linked above).

My problem has been described by others before:
If i start CMANO with a windows dpi scaling greater than 100%, load a scenario and mark any unit, the right info panel has display issues. If i mark a second unit the right info panel starts flickering and the game crashes. The new patch doesn't change this behavior. The chrash is logged in the exception log file attached to my post in the linked thread above. Deleting the command.ini made no difference.

CMANO works with a windows scaling factor of 100%.

It works even if i start windows with a 100% dpi scaling, than change the scaling to for example 150% and NOT log in to windows again and than start CMANO.

I am playing on a Surface Pro 3 and Windows 10 with latest updates (Anniversary).

If you need more information i will surely help!

Thanks and sorry!

Andre

Update:
The Redstone Patch Take-2 removes the crash issue for me. There are still the display issues with higher dpi scaling as you already described.

Thanks for your great work on these Windows bug's!

Working much better now, thanks so much. Any chance of fixing up the status bar to the right?

Yes, this is being worked on as a separate issue. No ETA yet but it is an item of strong concern.
