Download and install went great..no issues.

First look at map was impressed. Beautiful design. Attempted to play with the intuitive controls with somewhat excess. Took Poland and destroyed several cruisers and destroyers.

Purchased some artillery but do not know when or where they will show up.

Going to review the manual now and see what all I was ding wrong (or right).

Thanks for the Beta invite...

Quick first-time assessment
Good looking map
Zoom levels: a closer zoom level and another one zooming out before to get to the final zoom would be great
Kind of hard to see units on the map without the base option
Detailed losses: units are off the menu
I would like to see something on supply in the reports, I'm not sure how it works as yet
How do you tell what the outcome of a battle is? Happens real quick, maybe an option to slow it down
A picture, description, and number of men/units would be nice in the Properties
Showing losses per turn would be beneficial

I will describe my first 10 minutes. I not speak English, but i understand then.

1) I downloaded the game :).

2) I install the game , the installation takes about 5 minutes.

3) I open the game by shorcut, and click the button "Play Game"

4) In 30 seconds the game opens.I select the 1939 campaign, play with the Axis.

5) I visit the menus ( research, production, etc ) , and move my troops , capturing some Polish cities . Then I move a Slovak unit and the game crash :(.
I liked the interface reminds me of the Strategic Command 1, the amount of units included is high (is good), the minimap seems a bit boring :( ( not shown my units, national boundaries or territories in control ), the map is perfect, much levels of zoom (is good).

¡Thanks for letting me participate in the BETA :)!
¡Feliz Día!

Hello,

download and installation were quick and without problems.
Map and units look good, Interface is fairly self explaining and easy to use. Moved a couple of units and initiated some combats, all without problems. a tutorial in the scenarios where the player is guided through some moves would be nice. I openend the manual and followed the tutorial in there, which requires a constant swapping between applications or to print out the manual. so far everything looks good and without problems or bugs.

Anybody here for a pbem game, I'd like to test the multiplayer options.

Greetings

Rainer

If you can send me the contents of the ERROR folder this would be helpful in tracking this down. This folder can be found in your USER directory, typically something like this:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command - WWII War In Europe

Thanks!

Kind of hard to see units on the map without the base option

This is the issue with having a detailed map underneath detailed units, which is why we offer the unit bases option as it helps the units to pop out more.

Also the reason why the NATO counters appear more clearly as they are less detailed etc.

Ive only played about 15 minutes on the Barbarossa scenario so far. But the map and GUI look great.

I get it, maybe outline the units when not using the bases. I primarily use the NATO counters.

Unfortunately there are some technical issues with that option as well... it is of course all doable under the right circumstances, I've just got some upper memory threshold issues with the 2D graphics engine I'm using that have limit my options at the moment.

Just a suggestion, just hard to play the game without the bases on in my opinion in that view.

Can you do anything with this? How do you tell what the outcome of a battle is? Happens real quick, maybe an option to slow it down. No way to go back and review or see the result again.

Hi cdcool, typically there is a strength point loss from battle and the before and after strengths are the best indicators of outcome. Unless you are looking for something else?

It just happens so fast, which there was more of a detailed box that comes up after the combat resolution or something to that effect that summarizes what just happened.

As usual a brillant game overall.I played 1.09 to intermediate diff.I like the option to enable AI control for your allies (i played Germany, but let AI handle Italy). I wish you add some explanatory text when you hover with mouse cursor over buttons (on advance tab buttons when setup game, i like the polish look of the windows messages, the balance, and deph of game (better than SC2). If you can add the posibility to cancel the initial production table decided so can we start from zero. The big problem i have is that the map seems too grey, the combination of colours corrected after disabling national colours, but still i don't spot so easily my troops on the map, specially when weather changes. even with zoom the grey's style of map tires my eyes...can you add some different colours for the world map so units can be more evident? With SC2 didn't had that problem...thanks and good work.

Btw, i wish we had some intermediate levels of zooming, the world map is ok, the second one let's you pan you over troops, but you can't move map with mouse, drag it and in the original no zoom maybe map can scroll faster up\down and sides.
The units icon's feels a little crispy on edges, like an unfinished work, i expected to be a little more polished( i didn't see any game setting menu to change resolution...is correct? maybe that's why...

Thanks and glad you are enjoying it :)

Out of curiousity, could you try disabling FoW to see if the map shows a bit more clearly? I only suggest this as it might be the "shroud" effect that is making everything look so grey for you. If so, this might be something we can add as an option, i.e. to disable the shroud, if it improves the clarity.

I'm guessing you are also playing 3D units with the unit bases turned off?

At the middle zoom level you should be able to click the map with the mouse and drag it, could you try again and confirm?

There was also a bug with the tool tip mouse over for the SETTINGS/OPTIONS/CHOOSE SIDE and ADVANCED screens where they were not always appearing, this should now be fixed for the next build.

This is actually purposeful to help the units have a bit of an outline and pop out more on the map... otherwise they would have blended in even more.

It works that way here. It's a little herky-jerky, but I never use it anyway, I'm a scroller [:)]
