Why do the "loss by types" at the end of the log bear no resemblance to the losses list...

Yet the losses screen........Axis losses 2482576. which is broken up as killed...1144601
captured...146211
disabled...1191764
returned...504498.

So which one do we go with?

AFAIR these are just losses during logistic phase whereas loss list has them all.

total ...........1165745men...that is one million one hundred thousand plus, whereas my total
losses for the game are Axis losses 2482576, which is two million four hundred thousand plus.

Losses by type is only about killed. I can try to locate from where the discrepancy (some 20k in your example) creeps in.

What do you need?

Bug fixed for next version (some types of losses were not registered in the "Loss by types" totals).

Sum of "Loss by types" should be equal to killed + captured from the main stats. Disabled are not included in "Loss by types".

the issue above has been resolved in the latest patch but I have another suggestion.
In the game I'm playing (turn1) Soviet surrender losses in the logistic phase event log are 0
Soviet combat,retreat, attrition and miscellaneous losses are together 139067.
This is the same value as in the main stats.

In the main stats tough, I have in the first turn 109804 captured men..
Plus 29263 Killed men = 139067

Summing up: In the logistic log I have 0 surrendered men in the main stats 109804

Can't we just delete LOSSES BY TYPE in the logistic phase event log?

I agree these stats are not really helpful.

But I don't understand your last post fully, please explain in detail.

In the attachment the event log of the first turn

and here the main stats

if you take a look at the man captured column you can see 109804
and in the phase event log for the 1st turn 0 surrendered

Let's see:
31121 + 83810 + 24116 + 0 + 20 = 139067
29263 + 109804 = 139067
The numbers match perfectly. "LOSSES BY TYPE" = "Men Killed" + "Men Captured".

What is misleading is the title "Surrender" in "LOSSES BY TYPE" - this is for men in units that surrendered during the logistics phase because of low morale and no supply. Men captured in units that surrendered during combat are included in Combat/Retreat/Attrition.

But I have a bug. Seems like HIDDEN log is not hidden at all

if the units are dead beacause of attrition and retreat losses, they should not appear in the "men captured" section of the main stats right?

Which means men were captured during combat, as elements were destroyed (it's resolved automatically and immediately what happens with men from a destroyed element).

You can assume that 31121-29263=1858 ended up as captured.

LOSSES BY TYPE is about internal phases in the game, not types of losses. It's about time (when did it happen), not end result (what happened to men).

All losses during combat (when elements are firing) are recorded as "Combat" type, be they killed or captured.
All losses during retreat (when final CV was determined, and units are forced to move), are recorded as "Retreat" type, be they killed or captured.
All losses during logistics phase (with the exception of when units are surrendering), are recorded as "Attrition" type, be they killed or captured.
All losses during logisitcs phase when units are surrendering OR when leftover elements after paradrop are lost OR when elements from disbanding units of a surrendering nation are lost, are recorded as "Surrender" type, be they killed or captured.
"Miscellaneous" are elements lost when no internal loss phase type was set at the moment of loss. Most likely when units are forced to make a relocation during a turn or something like that.

I just read this post about the numbers in the event log.

Willi, you have provided a screenshot of the turn event log (as stored automatically in the WitE folder) AND what you call the "main stats". I understand these are compiled from various screens like production, losses screen, commanders report et al.
Just one big question: how do you copy the data to your file from the WitE-screen? Is there any capture functionality I am missing? I cannot even mark the numbers on screen. How you export them?
