Hi

It has been suggested to me that the price of tank units is too low.

I welcome thoughts and suggestions on this. How are you finding their price in comparison with other costs?

Thanks

Bill

i do seem to spam a lot of tanks, so yes maybe it's too low, but not really hammered it as much as most of the others here, so will wait and see what others think on it[&o]

Not sure if the price is truly too low. But maybe it is to easy to repair them once they suffered losses.
Best would be a system where you could either buy a new unit or repair 1 - 10 units 1 - 10 points instead (or more, depending on your indutrial, logistics and production tech level).
Or if the initial purchase prices would rise much higher with every installed tank level purchased.
Another idea could be to allow no (tank) updates while a unit is in the field (similar even though not the same way like naval units are already limited.

Or rather, why not just limit the number of tank units to a historical number?

I don't find the cost of tanks to be too low. Historically, the USSR built lots of tanks during WW2. As for Germany, I find that the build limits do a good job of limiting the number of tanks. USSR choose Quantity. Germany choose Quality. The one aspect I don't find represented in the game is the historical reductions in production time that occurred as the war continued. Look at the US production time for destroyers and aircraft, look at the German production time for submarines and tanks.

Claus mentions a very important point.. maybe the prices for upgrades and refreshments are too low.

Also I need to repeat my opinion: tanks don't have enough punch. At least when compared with the tanks from the old SoE campaign... and these where incredibly expensive.

Soft build limits i find ok. The prices too. Would be a very easy game with tanks spam, but i agree that maybe needs some boost on atack values. I had some odd situations on eastern front where a russian tank with 2 points, no entrench left encircled completed didn't died even if bombarded with arty, 3 inf atacks and final blow from a panther. Maybe because it was in a city with port and was winter...btw, on winter the movement is reduced, atack values also? would be nice to have more steps for mobility. How about a bergtiger for repairs more quicly on front? lol

I think the price is fine when compared to the costs of other units. If a player sets hard limits for builds the issue goes away. If playing with soft builds then one more tank unit means one less infantry, air or something---there's always a tradeoff.

Yes, attack values are also halved during the snow, so that will be why he resisted your attack so well.
