Some useful stuff here from a Rand report onto PLAAF pilot training for those creating current/future Chinese scenarios and wondering what skill level to set pilots at.

Short version: PLAAF making efforts to introduce 'Red Flag'-style less-scripted tactical training to challenge/push. However still lag USAF in combat tactics thanks to deep history/experience of Soviet GCI doctrine.
