Hi,

Do you have favorite musical pieces you listen to while playing ? I do have a WITP:AE playing list on my spotify. This is how my list changed over the course of my last game.


Early War : Eye of the tiger and In the army now and similar '80s stuff.
Mid War : Glenn Miller tracks did nicely as I plotted where to invade next.
Late War : Godzilla Soundtrack ( the new holywood one ) and Interstellar Soundtrack... Well we ar not done yet so maybe I'll catch more songs.

I also frequent the traditional Japanese music radio on spotify during playing regardless of the side - it sure helps you to get into the mood what ever side one plays.

I wonder what you guys listen when you play ?

Generally I listen to my wife complaining that I'm on the computer again!!

Depends on my mood at the moment - usually has nothing to do with the game. Most of the time, though, it's various rock/R&B tracks from the 70s and 80s: Warren Zevon's Werewolves of London (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDpYBT0XyvA), Mungo Jerry's In the Summertime (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG0oBPtyNb0), War's Lowrider (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUT46ZR5CC8), J. Geils' House Party (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBiSJ8jCTjA), anything that brings back memories of when I would get together with my brother and friends to build plastic models (this is just before adolescence).

And tying in to the Gorn's post in his ongoing thread, yes - Linda Rondstadt. Another beautiful, and smooth, voice would be that of Marilyn McCoo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nb9jJg_wIU)

I have a couple of Itunes playlist, heavy on rock
one of the playlist has a lot of breathy females like Fiest

As to what I listen to, I do have a couple of Glen Miller and Andrew Sisters CD's that I listen to while playing. That is of course when I don't have 'Victory at Sea' playing on the DVD in the background.[:D]

I solved that problem a number of years back...

Mostly - I like classical, various composers like Gustav Holst, or Mussorgsky, or Prokofiev, or Rimsky Korsakov...
Sometimes 40's Big Band - depends.
Not much what you might classify as contemporary

I grab my phone and put on my spotify playlist called "Imperator".

47 songs on it, of those 47, 30 of them are from the Game of Thrones OST's (which btw, I'm going to the live concert in St. Paul in Febuary!)

The remaining 17 are a mix of John Williams (yes I do have the Konigratzer March from the third Indiana Jones movie), Hans Zimmer (lot of the Dark Knight themes) and a single song titled "Sink the Bismark" by Johnny Horton... Only song with lyrics that I have.

Lets just say I don't play the game for the in-game music[:)], not when I can increase the bloodflow a little when "The Battle of Yavin" track plays at the moment where KB strikes!

I have a play list with Victory At Sea soundtrack mixed in with Big Band 40s music.
