I seem to have an issue adding aircraft to a mission

Steam version
Sequence of events is this

In the scenario editor

1. Add a ship to the scenario (Ark Royal in this case)
2. Add a helicopter to the ship helicopters (Lynx HMA.8 with Sea Skua)
3. Add a opposition ship (A607 Meuse)
4. Create a Naval Asuw Strike with the Meuse as a target
5. Try to add the Lynx to the mission.
6. Get the error Aircraft is currently out of target range. Distance to target is 0 nm while strike radius is 128nm
7 Add another aircraft (Nimrod) in air with a land base. Try to add it to the mission and I get Error message Aircraft not added to mission Reason: Check there are no No-Navigation Zones too close to the target or landing marshal point.

Its a fresh map so to my knowledge there are no No-Navigation Zones on the map

How about putting the scenario up so we can look at it.

Might want to read through the new user section also.

Use drive or dropbox. You're not going to get much constructive help until someone can look at the scenario. You are basically asking someone to rebuild the scenario to look at the issue. There are just too many variables.

What loadout did you have selected for the Merlins?

The target has not yet been detected (removed god view), and the Lynx message is just a warning as the target range can't be determined. It still adds the helo to the mission and active correctly when target is detected and range is known.

The helo mission runs fine as soon as the ship is detected.

Yeah, figured that out. This is why more descriptive posts and saves are important.

Once you did the setup, did you run it for a second or so to enable the engine to workout where everything was, before adding the mission?

Also, The Nimrod can be selected if you remove the undetected OPFOR ship from the list. You can then add the OPFOR ship. I think it has something to do with the ship actually not being detected yet. My guess.

This is a strike mission. It would not normally be launched until the target(s) are detected. So adding the Nimrod gives it an unknown/undetected target to strike. If the Nimrod was landed at the base, you would have most likely got a similar message to the Lynx. And it would have launched when the target was detected.

I figured it was something like that...

Thanks for all the replies. I do find the message a bit confusing, it would be handy if it said "Target not yet detected"

What I was trying to set up was a situation where an a/c was already on the way to attack a detected ship but I guess I could do this by putting the a/c on patrol then running the scenario editor until the ship is detected and saving at that point.

Yes you could also add the aircraft in the air. You can designate the ship as its homebase.

We can't do the "Is not detected" message because the messaging is really there for the benefit of playing not editing.

My suggestion is taking a look at the really great tutorial videos the community has put out and getting some basic familiarity with the game. I think its great you dove right in but this game does require a little bit of playing to learn.
