How Good is the Game Against Live Opponents?

I see complaints about the AI, but how does it do when playing by eMail?
Clarification: I mean how is the game as a pbem game (i.e. against a live opponent) versus playing against the AI?
Thank you,
Mark

The AI is the same regardless.

its excellent, in truth all the AGEOD games are better PBEM. The order system allows for fairly relaxed play (you don't have to be on line at the same time) and the multi-country nature of WoN makes for all sorts of underhand and nasty tricks. If you want it to be 2 player best is to take Britain vs France and leave the rest to the AI. From some dabbling I'd say 4 player is most interesting - say Britain, France, Russia and Austria. They have sufficiently divergent interests to have their own agendas but are the states most likely to be active at any time.

I'd rather play this against people than the AI personally.
Loki100 has a good four player matchup.
It isn't a game that you'd really want to play as the Ottomans or Spanish IMHO.
