Subs

I had a sub in silent mode run into two UK battleships and stop but with no attack from the BBs. It's range should have carried it three more hexes.
Should BBs stop a silent sub?

This would be the expected behaviour if there were other Allied ships beyond the BBs, especially any Destroyers.
If you see it again please turn Fog of War off and take a look to see if that is the case.

I will watch for it. There may have been destroyers just beyond as it was the tight quarters of the English Channel.

Hi
I am concerned that destroying subs against the AI (and probably in PBEM mode too) is perhaps a little too easy. I have done something that has worked fairly effectively, and that is to surround the sub (or U-boat) BEFORE attacking. That way, if the sub evades, it NEVER moves from the hex it starts in, even if it dives. There should be at least a chance that the sub (or U-boat) will move out of the 'trap' it is in.

I find this version of Strategic Command the most weighted in the favor of DDs versus subs. It feels about right to me though, and I think we need quite a few more hours to see how it plays out. I am glad it's going live soon, as there isn't enough beta testing to determine if the balance on sub warfare is right, or close to right. I will agree with ludi18671 there should be a chance a surrounded sub can escape that trap. How much of a chance is above my pay grade though, just food for thought.
