I'm a little put off by the current 'sandbox' nature of HoI4 and looking for something purer and more historical so this looks like it could suit me.

However, I'd like to give it a go first so does anyone know if there are any plans for a demo?

Watch the Youtube video series by Night Phoenix. Very entertaining and he explains many of the rules as he goes along. It will give you a great feel for how the game plays.

For what it's worth: I also was very disappointed by HOI4, especially as my expectations were that we'd finally get a historical simulation of WW2 in a more accessible guise. In this situation, SC WW2 was just what the doctor ordered.

This definitely compares favourably to HOI4.

(I say that as a long-term Paradox fan, but I had to get HOI4 refunded because it had no relation to reality at all...)

I have over 500 hours of Hoi4.. I got this for something different and I kinda like it better. So take that for what its worth.
