Well, after many tries I've finally destroyed the USN CVs in scen #1 and I'm now preparing to tackle some land battles.

But first a question!!

How important is it to keep land troops within their original OOB? Does it weaken the effectivness of troops to mix (for example) the IJN 8th Army HQ with the Combined Fleet AA and the 17th army engineers?

Cheers,
Granola

Keeping a unit with it's HQ does improve combat performance. I also improves resistance to the rotting away they experience if left in the tropics for lengthy periods. However, it is practically impossible to do this all over the map. There are too few HQ and too many places to hold. Save it for the key locations and battles.

Ground Division HQ's provide a +20% ground combat benefit and Army/Corps HQ's provide a +10% ground combat benefit.

Ground units in the same hex with the Division HQ they are directly attached to will be 20% more effective in ground combat.

Japanese Army/Allied Corps HQ's provide a 10% benefit to all ground units within 6 hexes.

Ground units suffer disruption if they are not within 27 hexes of the HQ they report to. This does not impact units that report directly to one of the 4 main theater HQ's (SOPAC, SWPAC, Combined Fleet, 8th Area Army).

If you can deny it to your opponent while maintaining it yourself, thats a net 60% difference which is fairly substantial!

(PS: a in game range finder would be nice!)
