Started the second map for the Korean war mod

My second map for the Korean war campaign is the City of Pyongyang. I just started recently.

Image
Total 20km x 20km, UTM 52N. There will be numerous VPs in this map.

Image
More than 50% of the hex will be urban, and there will be numerous crossroads / junctions.

This will be urban warfare game, but the main objective of this operation will not be the total clean up of all those buildings and streets. US(or RoK) army should ignore / minimize the urban battle as much as possible, and should circumvent the major city center, move to the north as fast as possible, and occupy the VPs at the north of the map and major circumventing pathways. If 20km x 20km is not enough wide, than I may need to increase to 25km x 25km or 25km x 20km, for this "bypass" maneuvering.

The reason behind this objective is the scenario of the campaign. China declared intervention, and PLA is coming down. Major goal of US/RoK army is, advance to the North as far as they could before they meet the Chinese tanks, and clear the supply routes for the northern push. Time is essence, and not much time will be allowed for this operation.

One can try the "clean up" operation, or try "Thunder run" to occupy several important VPs, such as crazy Kim's palace, DPRK labor party building, or DPRK TV broadcasting center. But all of those will be secondary objective. If players want challenge or high VP score, one can try those secondary objective.

There will be a lot of KPA infantries, ~50% of them will be special forces with high morale. In addition, the most of the city blocks will be fortified and blocked by various obstacles. (That is why I wish the more engineering option in this game) US/RoK spearheads will be supported by heavy firepower. Proper use of the firepower and SEAD missions will be the key to success.

Considering the current geopolitical events around the Korea, I'm thinking of 2017 as a background. APS or modern sensors will not be included, but I wish to make it as close as possible. 1999' version might be the good one too. Regarding the APS, can we set an ability in excel file, which reduce the chance to hit of ATGMs, and naming it as APS?

My works and my baby don't allow me a time for the hobby, so my time is restricted. I can't even play any games recently. The great obstacle right now is the data and information. It is very difficult to find the correct data regarding order of battle, and deployment region of those forces. This really takes too much time. I'm looking for any helps regarding this data. Hopefully, wish to finish 5~6 maps and data at the moment of Southern Storm.

Thanks Harry, some of the information are very useful. Actually, I'm not worrying that much about US/RoK army data. But PLA/KPA data is the problem. For example, most of the KPA/PLA deployment region data are secret (which is related with their OP), I think I may need to rely on my imagination in this case. Plus, unit stats for PLA army in the web are usually exaggerated, comparing data to data and double check the values are also pain. :P

Hello!
In case you haven't found that already:

There is info regarding divisional placement of PLA: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... ina/mr.htm

I've found some PLA OOBs here:

As for DPRK, there is some useful info:
