Synching up Escorts with Strike Aircraft / Bombers

When the escorts and the package they're escorting are fairly close or co-located it seems like there's no problem. If they're not, however, a strike package can get a hopeless head start on their escorts, so they're never really able to effectively do their job. Does anyone have any tricks for making sure the escorts can link up with the rest of the package appropriately?

Example: A bunch of strike aircraft are based on one side of a fairly large island and a bunch of fighters are based on the other side. I use the bomb trucks from one side and the fighters from the other. They all launch at a similar time, and when the bombers begin to ingress to the target, the escorting fighters have to cross the island to link up, and end up an island's width behind the whole time.

Yeah I like to have the escorts and strikers from the same or close bases. Otherwise I start the escorts early and add them to the mission as they get closer - sort of semi-micro management of the mission.

Huuum... that makes it hard to do things like base the fighters forward (because they have shorter range), and base the bombers further back (because they're less vulnerable), and then schedule missions where they meet up somewhere along the way to a target. Grrr... sounds like I need to improvise. Maybe by putting AAW Patrol areas in the target areas and delaying the strike
mission by like... 5 min or so?

Try the following:

Set up a "Marshalling Area" Patrol (very small patrol area) and assign the bombers to it. Then at the appropriate time assign the fighters to it. When everyone is together assign the bombers to the strike mission, and the fighters to escort mission.

This can even be automated if you are good at Lua Script, and can done for computer-side AI opponents.

I think this will work, but not sure it addresses your issue exactly.

fingers crossed this functionality will come with advanced strike planner, it's a bother in large scenarios.

what i do is just use plot a course to keep everyone from going into the target (just bandbox everyone) and plot courses in a racetrack until everyone is grouped up and then stop doing so and they will head into the target together (or, best case. many times 1/2 of them decide to hit a tanker ten seconds after you stop watching them and then they all die.. but nothing's perfect)
