Best way to play MP

I have had a couple year break was hoping they had sorted out the ability to play online.
How do people play games with an opponent at them moment PBEM, Dropbox Email etc
Been out of the loop

2.2.5 is the latest official version with 2.3.0 out soon. 2.2.8 I think is the latest beta update.

AFAICT the current public (non-beta) release is 2.1.4.
The public betas are quite stable these days.

IMO yes. There should be a new public beta (2.3.0) out shortly. That one will even be better.
