I cannot run TAO2 on my system under Windows ME, but I dont have trouble with other OS's. Does anyone know if the TAO update included with Korsun Pocket will have this same problem? I am wary about buying Korsun Pocket for this reason.

It's not an update to TAO but a scenario for Korsun Pocket so it's with the new engine... Besides, why would they be releasing stuff that doesn't work on new operating systems?

Hi Sniggy

Korsun Pocket will run under all the same OSs as Uncommon Valour. Namely WIN 98, Win 2000 and WIN XP.
To Mac: TAO2 never ran under an OS that came under the WIN NT or WIN XP kernel. Korsun Pocket will.

Naturally they are going to fix the problems which is what I meant

. I've been playing TAO2 with 98 only but even I have to upgrade the other OS some day (I use Linux for everything besides gaming) so it'll be nice to still be able to play the Ardennes scenario. And I bet the rules changes don't hurt it either

I've been playing TAO2 under Win95, no problems. Now my machine was outdated so I bought a new one with WinXP and found out I can't play TAO2 on it anymore:mad:
So hopefully KP will be ready soon so I can get rid of the old PC.

Hello all, first time on here...
So I also have the TAO somewhere in the world in one of my piles of luggage. I downloaded TAO2 but am also plagued by having an XP PC right now. What I am wondering is - it should still be possible to play by running it in Win98 emulator mode. Any PC experts out there know why it isn't working?
Otherwise looking forward to KP and I am up for PBEM.
BTW - whatever happened to Brubaker & co's AAR?

TAO code is not compatible with Win2000/XP and won't run regardless of what you try. It will always lock up once you have loaded a game and start using the interface.

Hi Spaceman, nice to see you around.
Chris is right TAO2 is not compatible in any way with XP code unfortunately. Good news is that the new game engine is completely compatible and has the TAO scenerio included so I personally think it will be even more fun than the original, considering the engine upgrade.
As far as my own AAR is concerned, unfortunately time constraints and other Matrix commitments have forced me to stop work in that area. I am still playing 2 campaigns however but just can't find the time to write about them. Sorry about that. But hey, if I told you everything, there would be no surprises when you purchase the game right?
I myself am following Chris's AAR (when time permits) here and contemplating testing the TAO file myself
I can't wait for you guys to get this game.

PS: Oh God and Sim City 4 is on the way - goodbye weeknights and weekends

Boo!
Oh well thanks for the help anyway.
Hope to see you guys in a PBEM soon!
Keep up the good work Chris with the TAO AAR - incidentally looks to me like there are a lot of smaller units (company sized AT / assault gun etc) that were not in the TAO I played. Leads to some very interesting possibilities - nothing like desparately trying to form a defensive position with a bunch of ad-hoc companies, captures some of the panic of the battle.
The new engine looks knockout!
Whilst I am here I am going to start another topc - see you there.
