Installing game to different folder.. question Ramdisk..

So I installed Distant Worlds Universe to my C: drive..

I then downloaded SoftPerfect Ramdisk and made a 3072 Megabyte Ramdisk called Q:\Games\..

I just literally copied over the Distant Worlds folder from C:\ to the Ramdisk Q:\Games...

I ran the Game and it starts..

the question I have is will I need to change any directories or settings about loading games or setting policies and the game keeping my settings since I will only use the ramdisk when I play Distant Worlds?

I basically want to see if it will run faster in my Ram.. I guess maybe only loading games would if I save and load games from the Ramdisk..

I guess I'm also trying to ask if the settings will be saved when I delete the Ramdisk.. are the settings still saved on C: even though I ran the game from Q:?

Your preferences and saved games are written to your C drive even if you install onto another drive, so I guess you're safe in that regard.

Of course, the simplest way is to test it. Set up some non-default policies, delete your ramdisk, and recreate it to see if your policies are still in effect. It shouldn't take too long.

BTW: Did you notice much of a performance improvement when you moved to a ramdisk?

To be honest, I didn't "notice" a performance improvement..

but keyword is "notice". there should technically be a performance increase. but I didn't "notice" it.. not yet anyway

I will however have to report back to you after the late-game playing stage.. i'm in the middle stage of the game where I only hace 2 big fleets and the shakturi hasn't made 1 billion ships and 900 colonies yet..

know what I mean..
