Idle thoughts over a coffee

I was reading an article about German generals in WWII, as you do. I came across this one that I hadn't stumbled over before.

Graf Strachwitz von Groß-Zauche und Camminetz

Good Prussian pedigree and you would think a formidable fighting general.

Sadly, his mother must have wanted a daughter as his first name..............HYACINTH!

Sounds more like one of the cast from Springtime For Hitler.

Graf Strachwitz von Groß-Zauche und Camminetz

Just pronouncing his name, Panzers encircle a couple of enemy Infantry Corps [8D]

Are they hiding or have the Junkers (Prussian landed nobility) disappeared from the German landscape? The vons with monocles that is.

That biography is pretty amazing.

This man fought quite a war.

He was quite a nice man toward his troops.
I spoke to a member of Groß Deutschland while working in Münster, was given a nice book by him.
