Are 20 Fps at the start normal?

Post by Terrarius »

I just started in the introduction galaxy and the steamcounter tells me that i just have 20 fps
After 2-5 minutes the framerate hits 60 but decreases in short bursts whenever i do something like zooming out
Gamespeed does not effect the framerate for some unknown reasons

-amd fx 6350
-gtx760
-8gbram
-deactivated antivirus just for the game
-run it as admin
-tryed it on multiple harddrives-does not change
-reduced graphical options to 0
Is this generaly normal?
Should i worry about my systems condition or is it normal with this setup=pc to weak for this game
At which point the framerate realy decreases the games timeprogressionspeed?
How well will lategame run on this setup if it already starts with such a slow framerate?
What else could i do to improve it?

Usualy low fps in a 4x wouldnt bother me that much but if its alraedy that low at the start of a game lategame might became unplayable
I like this game but i worry that i need to refund this if lategame is certain to crash every 5 minutes

Ive already posted a similar post in the steam forum but someone suggested me to post it here again since the steamforum is not very active compared to here...i hope you dont mind that

I have never checked the fps counter, but I do not think you should worry too much.

My main "performance" issue is in the extremely late game, mostly seen doing automated runs (hunting for crashes...). Saving and loading takes a long time. But this is at a point where I would never reach in a "normal" game, and it can possibly be helped by turning of "respawning pirates". And possibly by running less than max sized (star count) galaxies.

The game is not graphics bound, it is cpu bound for any realistic setup.

Bad slowdowns could happen, but I would only say they do if you "provoke the game". You do not need 200 ship fleets, with 50 carriers sending its fighters out... Especially not if it makes your game slow down to unacceptable levels.

Crashes can happen, I would keep autosave on, but I would not expect then to happen. The game is pretty stable. The technical questions that appear are about getting it running in the first case.

well, while I agree with your idea, unfortunately you need 200 ship fleet to withstand the Shaktur attacks..

show me your ship designs that withstand a 10-15 Shaktur ship fleet attack please?
