Hi guys I've gone and managed to get my strategic bombers stranded on an island , I sent them to the coast of Scotland to recce the shipping lanes and as there supply has dropped they have become stranded there, they can still recce out over the Atlantic but can't fly over the sea to the mainland and a supply source any suggestions would be appreciated

I don't think there is a way around this, the manual I think actually warns against put units on islands without a supply source. In CEAW-GS you can provide supply by moving a capitial naval unit next to the coast near a land unit, but I don't think this works in SC3

I've sent a CV up there but no change and the disband button is greyed out looks like it will be a long cold wet and windy war for my bomber boys [&:]

sapper32 Try moving one of your high value HQ units 8or9 value ones, to the nearest place on the coast to the island.
Leave it there a few turns.
It might be enough to put the bombers back in supply.

I didn't think HQs in SC3 had any effect to units that are seperated by water (not even across straits)?
Btw is the aircraft at maximum long range tech? If not, increasing that may help?

Well that's how i rescued an out of supply unit from the island of CORFU.
it's a bit like using a tow truck to remove a broken down car.
if the HQ can attach itself to the unit it may work.

Ok will try that and see if a HQ makes a difference it's odd that the bomber can still fly recon missions out into the Atlantic but can't fly 2 hex back to the mainland ??

I thought Corfu had a secondary supply source?

oxford guy,CORFU is under secondary supply.but later in the war greek partizans start operating in greece. That messes with supply.
iam not new to SC.
i first played pacific theater. in that you really start finding about supply, with all those remote islands on the map.

The HQ won't be able to provide supply from the mainland, so I'm afraid that your Bombers won't be able to move.

That's what I thought would be the case, this would also apply if the only land link between the HQ and the unit was a across straits, right?

Yes, it's true, the game engine needs an improvement for cases like that.
Best would be supply flights via air units.
edit:
a recon flight, done my med or heavy bomber, could always "drop" one (med) or two (heavy) supply points, if the flight ends over a friendly unit. Else it could be a special flight mode for both of the plane types.
