Lake and bridges

Post by terminator »

Hello,
I know that it is a detail, but maybe easy to correct.
By creating a map, I noticed that it is impossible for a unit to cross a road or rail bridge over a lake.

On second thought, I think that it is necessary to consider this comment as a simple curiosity.
The problem is that if engineer's team managed to destroy a bridge over a lake, it will not be possible any more to repair it.
In conclusion, you should not put of bridge over a lake (?)

Hi all,

It is hard to imagine a bridge over a lake. Roads would go around it and so would advancing forces. If soldiers need to cross a narrow place of a big lake - the one east of Estonia - they would use boats but then, at least in this game, the attacking unit would be alone on the other coast against the counter-attacking enemy.

Hi Marechal,
Anecdotally, here is how I discovered accidentally this small bug.
By creating the scenario "Kalinin Offensive" (tm.asp?m=4227009) which is a conversion of the original scenario "Kalinin" from "Operation Barbarossa The Struggle for Russia", there was initially a railbridge just next to the city Redkino. By testing the scenario (of multiple times on each side) I realized that it was impossible to go on the railbridge.
We can note that in "Operation Barbarossa The Struggle for Russia", it is impossible for a motorized unit to go on a railbridge what is not the case in "Germany at war".
Finally to end, this small bug also exists in "Operation Barbarossa The Struggle for Russia" (I made a test on an old computer).
On the GoogleMap we can see a bridge above a lake nowadays.

Hi terminator,

It looks like the narrowest part of the lake so there can be a bridge over it. This must be a bug in the game.

Hi Marechal,
So it could be as this :

But finally, I completely agree with Ronald : It must be considered as a bug (bridge over lake should be passable).

Hi Ronald,
Just a last question about bridges.
Lakes are considered as some water in the editor.
Will it be possible to cross bridges over zones of water vast as in the example below?
