I am dealing with the missing AC Art problem. Then thinking it was a file corruption i reloaded the game. Now i have the link/zone data issue. What else can i screw up? And how do i fix it?

I don't even know what is a link/zone data issue. Can you describe what you are running into?

This is from my PBEM mate Pompack.
I got a "link/zonedata differs" warning. When I opened it up I have 26 ships lost in off map movement (but 12 others that are not lost). I ran the turn and all the combat works fine. Let's proceed and see what happens. I have attached a screen shot of my in-game options; compare it with yours and see if anything differs.
In addition on my side bombing and fighter raids show on the screen but not in the combat log.

I think this is a pwhex data issue. There are 3 files make up what people call the pwhex data:
pwhexe.dat
pwzlink.dat
pwzone.dat
First, they must match the map art that you are using. The map art is what you see, the pwhex data is how the computer sees the map. If they are different you might find ships where they "can't" go, etc. Second, you and your opponent must have the same mart art and pwhex data.

I still am not getting about half the combat reports. Burma is very active and I can see AC fights but no combat reports afterwards.

AFAIK the Japan player's settings rule. You or your opponent will have to verify all game settings. Are you Allies or Japan?

Japan. We have been going over this for about two weeks. With all these problems I figured corrupted files. But we have been playing PBEM (Pompack)for almost ten years and now all these malfunctions. The one change on my side is an upgrade to better graphics card also a couple weeks ago. But that makes no sense to me as after reloading the program it only got worse.

A new graphics card and driver could screw up graphics for sure (hopefully only until getting driver issues and settings issues straightened out), but I can't see how it would cause reports not to be saved.
Maybe if you've been playing PBM more or less the same way for a long time it's been a long time since you went through the game settings and preferences. One might be wrong now and you just haven't noticed. All I can recommend is going through them one by one. Post them all here for other folks to look at if you like.

We cross-posted...
OK, I don't see anything wrong.
Did you reinstall while you were trying to fix the earlier issues? If so, where (drive and folder) did you reinstall to?

OK, but what is the original folder? There have been some permission problems when people installed things in the c:\programs area, and maybe also depending on if there is more than one account on the PC. Also, what operating system are you running? (example, MS Windows XP, 7, 10, etc.)

I don't know. You can try installing it the top level C drive, as in C:\Matrix Games\War... and see if that helps.

Just a shot in the dark but it sounded to me like the two PBEM opponents are playing different scenarios, or different versions of them. The map problem causing convoys to get lost seemed like one side was playing with the extended map and DBB while the other side was stock scenario 1 or 2.
The other thing that can cause ships to go AWOL is the common newcomer mistake of changing a TF orders while it is in transit in the off-map area. You cannot change anything to do with routing or TF makeup while in the holding boxes without causing weird things to happen.

After more discussion with Pompack I created a "sandbox" file and loaded the game in that. It ran perfectly. No more error messages. I still have the missing AC in the combat runs but that is something different.[:)]
