Unloading

Not sure if this is a bug or not. Given enough APs to get anything to unloaded using Ctrl-L you have to point to an empty hex. Occasionally even this does not work, then you have to resort to the button.

Not exactly a bug.
When you press the Ctrl key, it puts the game in Fire Mode. You can see this, because the leftmost toolbar button changes to a crosshairs. If you have the cursor over a unit, the code interprets this as maybe an intent to fire on that unit. If you attempt a Ctrl+L, you will also see a hard/soft attack factor tooltip appear over the unit.
Of course, in this case, you would not want to fire on your loaded unit(s). As you have observed, if you move the cursor to an empty hex, there is clearly no intent to fire (on an empty hex), and Ctrl+L will work as intended.
This issue affects Ctrl+P, for summoning the Opfire Dialog, also. And probably other Ctrl+ hot key functions as well.
"Occasionally even this does not work" -- I couldn't say about that. It is possible that under certain circumstances, there is this glitch.
Sorry this is a bit confusing, and not always fool-proof. But anyway, as you have also observed, there is still the toolbar button, which AFAIK should always do the trick.

Yeah I already got that about the control key which is why I said a possible bug and other than reassign keys there's nothing to be done except maybe highlighting the 'quirk' in the documentation. It took me a lot of wearing to work out why my units where not unloading.
As to the other problem I can't isolate it.
