Newbie advice for Japan

Is there anything a newbie playing Japan might do/not do that would assure defeat? I feel comfortable about protecting my forces, the importance of acquiring raw materials and understand the basic rules, but are there common mistakes one might make that will be hard to overcome?

Any advice on factory expansion or converting aircraft production? I don't want to go 12-18 months into the war and have to turn off production because of over-exuberant expansions.

Thanks in advance.

There are a lot of posts about how to work the Japanese Economy... find them.. read them... study them.... love them... then throw them away. Make your own
decisions BUT do not make huge changes at once to the economy or it will go bad very quickly unless you are well versed in how everything works. Make some
small changes wait a few turns, make more. Once you get the hang of how it all works and is interconnected, then you can make sweeping changes when you
want as you will understand the way it works... Number One reason people ruin the economy is making too many changes without understanding how that will
affect everything.

I cannot search on the site, so I will allow others to link the correct economy posts.

Unless playing the AI, anything Japan does/does not do will assure defeat. Japan will lose the game.[:'(]

That being said playing the Japanese side is a rather large undertaking and huge time investment. The economy is 'frail' and as said above may be broken rather easily. I know I've done it several times.[:D] Go ahead its how you learn.

There are many threads that have the info you seek, but unfortunately the sites' search engine (which was somewhat problematical to start with) has been on the fritz. Wait let me see if I can get some for you.

Here's a good one.

Here's how to search the site using google. Never really tried it, but its supposed to work.

Anyway I know I've got more stuff around, but its what I could find at the moment. It should get you started.

I have got to clean up my bookmarks.[:(]
