Hi Ronald,
with Soviet Bunker Garrison Regiment instead of Battalion (update 1.08 ?), this scenario could be more challenging.

It is exactly what makes the particularity of this battle.
In reality, we should say "Siege of Odessa" or "Defence of Odessa" and not "Battle of Odessa".
This scenario should be renamed "
Siege of Odessa (1941)".
If you do not like this kind of "battle" then you do not have to like the following battles (?):
- Siege of Sevastopol
- Battle of Stalingrad
- Siege of Leningrad
- Siege of Budapest
- Battle of Königsberg
- Berlin 1945...

Odessa 1.02
New version only for the upgrade 1.08 :
- Bunker garrison : Battalion -> Regiment (Regiment resist much better, real Bunker now !)
- 4.5cm ATG M1937 -> SU Bofors 37mm (new unit)

Hi terminator,
Sorry for a very late answer. I have not tried this scenario yet but I will.
There is time to advance at full speed with your tanks and there is time to attack fortified positions. After all, Moscow is heavily fortified and must be taken either late in 1941 or in summer of 1942, so a general must know how.
Regiment strength of bunkers - a good idea. I will use it in all my campaign scenarios in late 1941 where Soviets have bunkers (Odessa, Wjasma, Mozhaisk, Moscow). After all Romanians can be upgraded to full strength divisions so battalion garrisons are too easy for them.
Kiev also needs stronger bunkers because the real Kiev fortified area was not a piece of cake.
From other scenarios you mentioned, most of them are after 1941 but there is place for siege of Leningrad in my 1941 campaign. The story looks like this - after encircling Leningrad the attack on the city and Army Group North comes close to it but does not take the city itself; so they decide to go for Volkhov - Tikhvin in order to destroy the Soviet supply system. I have looked at some maps and there were really serious artillery duels including shop artillery we do not have but ships can be replaced by Soviet ML20 guns.
There is a chance to take Sevastopol in 1941 - historically Germans tried twice before the end of 1941 - and there can be some epic artillery duels there.
-------
First impressions of this new version:
The Soviets are tougher now although the mission is still doable in the same time frame. Combined arms operations are the Romanian answer - cooperation between artillery and bombers is necessary and both of my bomber groups received 2 crosses for 1 battle, a result any German ace would be proud of. I still have AARs on Bialystok, Bobruisk and Smolensk to do but this test play will go as my official AAR.
The Soviets have realized the importance of artillery - besides the standard 4 artillery pieces they got 1 artillery piece and 2 Katyushas so the Romanian artillery had hard time and one battalion was almost destroyed in artillery duels (80% losses after which the remains of the battalion were pulled out for refitting.)
The Soviets made a landing operation east of the city on September 22 but if the Romanians do their best and take the city by then, this operation is too late.
What we really need some time in the future is the Soviet ship artillery. The Soviet navy had an important role in both Leningrad and Odessa battles.

Hi Marechal,
You're forgetting the battle of Tallinn (1941) where the Soviet navy participated in the defense of the city.
On the other hand, the German navy also played an important role in the Courland Pocket (1944-45).
