A landing craft/ escort carrier
but no way it is the 1st amphibious assault ship, I mean it is not even the 1st IJN one; that honor goes to Shinshu Maru, which was the world's first landing craft carrier ship to be designed as such.

OT: Shinshu Maru is some kind of torpedo magnet in all my games...

Not in my games. I equip all my ships with a rotating shield frequency. Not even the Borg have gotten thru them as yet...
