Star Wars - The Evacuation of Yavin (in beta development)

This mod has now been released and is available in the link section below.
Please note that this early version will be far from complete but it will be playable.
An update is already being worked on to fix ship sets. Update should be done later today.
Updates will be added on a daily basis where possible, or several updates a week, where you download the update and extract it into the customization folder..... or download the entire updated mod as one download if you prefer.....
The mod is still being worked on but you are can download it below and play the game and get the updates as they are released.

As a fan of Star Wars my first attempt at a Distant Worlds mod many years ago was to create a mod for the Star Wars Universe....sadly I lost my entire work after 9 months of development. Now is the time to try again and this thread will go through my creation of this mod from the very beginning.
There have been a few Star Wars mods already for Distant Worlds however this mod will go into a lot more detail with a new look for the ships and characters.
With the sad loss of Carrie Fisher back in December I decided it was only fitting to start the first character portrait being Princess Leia back at the rebel base on Yavin IV showing an area of the base not seen before in the first movie.
Below is a still very much work in progress image of what the Princess will look like in the mod.
The mod is going to be around the same time era as Rogue One and Episode IV.
Just a quick note: this mod will not have Jar Jar Binks in it.... though I did not really mind him and his character would have been better portrayed with a different story-line.

Help me understand, you have a couple other mods incomplete. Are those on hold now, or are you working on all of them at once. I was hoping to play one before DW2.

Most of my time is spent on the Star Trek mod and probably about 5% of the time starting preliminary work on the other mods. At times I need to take a quick break from Trek and when that happens I do a little work on the other mods.
My belief is that this ensures the mod remains high quality because if I spend all my time on Star Trek then I could get burn out.
Star Wars may also need less development time with what I have planned so it could be released at the same time as Star Trek.
The other mods being worked on are :
- Voyager
- Doctor Who
- Battlestar Galactica
- Stargate
However these have less priority than Star Trek and Star Wars.

Testing the appearance of the Death Star in the mod....
For any Star Wars mod I think it is essential to have the Death Star somewhere in the mod.
I have the look I am after.
Now I need to work out if the Death Star moves through different systems or not......

I have been disconnected from the Internet for 8 days while waiting for telephone technicians to come out and fix my line..... so work on all the mods has been effected.
I have however been able to do some work such as finalizing the look of the Millennium Falcon for the mod.

This mod will cover the periods of the original movies:
- A New Hope
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
and will also include characters and events from Rogue One with events in the mod having a different story to what happened at the end of the movie.
I am currently looking at how to have the Death Star travelling to other systems without using hyperdrive and travelling at the proper speed. At the moment the Death Star is stationery but there are various options I am considering for it to travel slowly to rebel worlds.

As specified in my other mods the ships will be resized as the mod develops but will be larger than ship sets seen in other mods.

Be assured that each of the mods I have announced I am working on...... when I get tired of working on the Star Trek mod, I switch to the Star Wars mod ... and to a lesser degree the Dr Who mod.
Work on the mods is not easy at times so I switch between mods when I am trying to overcome an issue.
I have mentioned on the Star Trek mod that I plan to release an alpha version as soon as possible and update that with new content on a weekly basis. This will be the same with this Star Wars mod.
My Star Wars mod will be set around the time of Rogue One and Star Wars Episode IV and the very early alpha version will have just the Empire against the Rebel Alliance. The map will be a small map with randomly generated planets and not a set star map.
I will add new races on a weekly basis and once the races, characters etc have been added I will create the much larger Galaxy map with the correctly placed systems.
I do apologize for mods still not being available yet but I will release the initial alpha versions for Star Trek and Star Wars as soon as I can.
Below is a picture I created for the mod showing the Millennium Falcon blasting away from Yavin IV. The original image of the Falcon was pretty basic but was vastly improved when I added shadows to the Falcon.
