Is this update compatible with current PBEM++ games or do we have to start over?

Hi Elmo,

Existing games in progress will be compatible.

Older challenges that have not been accepted will be marked in RED in the OPEN CHALLENGES listings as not being installed on your system and this is because the campaigns have been updated for the v1.01.02 Beta patch.

Best for those that have open challenges and that have moved to this latest beta to remove the old challenges and issue new ones so that they are with the latest campaign versions and will therefore match everyone else's versions that wish to join a challenge.

Hubert

Just successfully downloaded and installed the latest update. When I try to get to the PBEM++ server is gives me a Connection Error 8 every time and asks me for my login and pw. Those have not changed in ages so something is broken.

Edit - Tried manually putting in my login and pw but they get rejected as invalid.

On my FTP client I get a 550 Permission denied error.
I tried to log onto the members area using another browser but that does not work either. I guess its just overloaded.

I finally got past the login after several more tries. Maybe someone gave the server a good swift kick? [:'(]

"Command and Control research now automatically increases HQ’s Action Points by 0.5 per level."

Slow HQs are a real pain for the Axis in Barbarossa. This is in interesting change... does it round up or down?

I updated to .02 and tried to access my ongoing games. Couldn't get into any of them, including those with players that I know have updated as well (such as Friendly Kommissar). Keep getting the message "Could not find XXXX.dat"

Not sure what to do.

One thing I noticed was that the first time I tried to run the .02 update (downloaded from the Memebers Forum), I got a message saying my game already the .02 update installed--did I want to re-install it? I quit the installation procedure, went to the main game menu and it still said I had version .01 (which made sense, since I hadn't in fact installed it). So I went back to the installer and clicked "Run" despite the message that I already the .02 version. It ran normally and now I have .02 installed for real.

I wonder if anyone else had this experience. Maybe some people haven't in fact installed .02 but are nonetheless getting a message that they have?

Also, the "Check for update" button on the initial game screen falsely told me I had installed .02, before I had in fact done so

save games may be "compatible" but do all the single player changes apply when loading up a 1.01 beta save, or do you have to start a new game to get these effects?

thanks

Unfortunately the campaign changes listed above will only apply once you start a new PBEM++ challenge (or a new single player game) as any game in progress is locked in with the previous campaign settings.

Hello Leadwieght

Thanks for reporting the update issue
We have have looked into this and there was a random issue that could sometimes happen where the installer sometimes thought you had the latest version
installed when you did not. Going forward from v1.01.03 this should be fixed. I'm happy to hear you managed to upgrade to v1.01.02 regardless.

With regard to the 'check for update button' this only checks for official updates, not beta versions. The last official update for Strategic Command
was v1.01 so if you had this installed you did indeed have the most recent official version.

regards
Ben Wilkins

Finished my last game with 1.01, so I dl'd 1.02 and installed it, then dl'd 1.03 and installed that. I tried to start a Hotseat and it seems to go to Pbem and it wants me to LogIn.

Can you confirm this and ensure you didn't accidentally press the PBEM++ Online instead?

I only ask as I can't repeat this on my end.
