Changing Research Discriptions

I'm dropping Infantry Weapons as a category, instead the related benefits will be obtained through Infantry Warfare.

Then under "Upgrade Data" I will disable Infantry Weapons and replace it with Anti-Tank Weapons. This will represent the augmentation of the units by attaching anti-tank/tank destroyers elements to the formation. I will likely do away with the anti-tank unit as it currently exist in the game.

Is it possible to edit the description of a research category? I can't seem to locate them.

Does anyone see a flaw in this approach? Obviously category cost and unit upgrade cost % will need to be adjusted.

An alternative would be to drop Mobility and add an action point to Infantry and Armored Warfare, then mech and tank units would be eligible for anti-tank increase. Not sure I'm in favor of this by any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Familiar with the Localization file ?

You can change the #RESEARCH_ID_ names and even the #GAME_RESEARCH_MENU_TEXT_ which is the mouse over descriptions.

Thanks,

I had looked in the localization text in the 'My Games' and forgot to go back to the Matrix installation files. My blunder, many thanks. I'm a paper and calculator type, computer projects frequently result in vast frustration and I lose my train of thought.

I hate to be a fanboy, but I wish this forum had an "upvote" button to reward posters who provide clear and simple answers to serious questions.

sPzAbt653 not only provides lots of great insight to how the game system works ( especially modding ), but he is polite and clear about what to do and where to find it.

Thanks Tim. I generally don't like any attention, but a compliment every now and then is nice. [:)]

I was thinking along the same line, dropping mobility as an upgrade and adding anti-tank, so it could be added to tank units as well. I thought of using different number of activation points in different units of different countries to simulate army doctrine, for instance Western Allies units would all have activation points as if motorised, including HQs.
