Isolated Units

Just a few thought about isolated units...
Now, combat units may be destroyed in the battle or may surrender when they are “isolated”. Support units also has a chance to be destroyed (only in the "regular" battle), but they are never surrender, and they have magical ability to escape, even being encircled far behind the frontlines.
Why support units assigned to the isolated HQ do not surrender like combat units?
For example – Korsun - The Red Army encirclement of Cherkasy–Korsun inflicted serious damage on six German divisions, including the 5th SS Panzer Division. Though most of the men escaped, they had to leave nearly all of their heavy equipment behind.
I think it would be correct if isolated support unit will have some chances to be destroyed or surrender while being isolated.
And when HQ is isolated the leader should have a greater chance to be killed or miissed in action. For example - At Stalingrad almost all of German leaders were captured or killed.
