Excellent link! First time seeing pics of Ulitihi. Major USN base in 1944-45. Capturing it in the game is another tough ball game. [:D]

Great Pics. Notice the USS Essex (CV-9) never changed her color scheme from 1943. The only Essex-class to do so.

I'm pretty sure it is, the only two carriers with long islands at that point were the Enterprise and the Saratoga and it's easy to spot a Lexington. They had the most distinctive island of any carrier.

I make out three Independence class in the picture. CVEs had a similar island, but the Independence were the only small carriers that ran with the big dogs.
