Shield effect as animation? More effect variations?

Hello,
i have questions about effect images limits

1) Is possible have separate images for 2 types of shield component? (similar to a colored weapons beam etc.) Or is it hardcoded as component type image?
2) And can i set shield (for example) effect as animation Frame_001.png, Frame_002.png... instead of static image?

Im exploring modding posibilities (realy not bad) and see many limits, where i did not expect them, such a waste of potential! :) (BTW. Can be expected some update, or is this final?)

I don't know about the shield effects, but the latest patch 1.9.5.12 came out two years ago. I would say it's final but you never know.

Distant Worlds 2 is in development so hopefully there will be more modding capabilities included.

Its a pity. I want different shield mechanism for every race, energy shield for one and animated flak defence for another. Its hard with only one image. :) Well, i cant have everything. ;)

BTW:
Hmm, two yars is long time...
And i did not find official info about Distant Worlds 2. Exist?
