Tan colored CW

I was reading an AAR today and noticed that the common wealth units were not blue, but instead tan colored which is much nicer. How are they doing that? Is it something I can have in my game?

Thanks

Have a look in the modding thread. Warhunter did a mod for this. Warning though - when looking at the convoy map the values are almost impossible to read. That aside I am very happy with the Khaki-in-Flames units. Warhunter also did the superb Orange for the Dutch, the Brown for the Spanish (anything but pink) and the wonderful Green and Red for the Portuguese.

Sadly he never did a cherry and green for the Hungarians on their own as far as I know. If he had I think I would have made a mess of my trousers in the rush to install it. Beautiful colouring [&o]

One of the first things which impressed me about MWIF is how bright and colourful the game is. As a newb I love seeing all the different coloured counters pop up as countries become active- and for partisans. I guess a designer has two basic choices for a counter- the traditional gaming colour or one based on a national colour such as a flag, common camoflauge colours etc. Tradional gaming colours don't necesssarily match national colours- to most people, including me, Italian colours should be light green (or green khaki) as in the game. But the colour isn't very common in Italian camouflage, uniforms etc. Russians are always brown - even though most uniforms and equipment were green or greenish brown.

When the Spanish units first popped up I think I verbally said "cool" - the last pink counter I think I encountered was in AH's old Anzio game. But I'm used to them now (they don't last that long anyway but ships are here and there and easy to find!)! But yes, CW units need to be Khaki/ tan. I'll probably install those files next game.

Absolutement! Aesthetics mean a lot to me personally and aesthetically this has to be one of the - no, actually the best game visually ever. Bright and colourful, the counters, with their mix of NATO and silhouettes, are just sex on a gaming board.

For people who are somewhat colorblind, the Khaki color of the British is really a no-go area. I seem to overlook those units pretty easy when they are in the desert...

Good point about the desert ... you can't miss blue CW counters in North Africa! Some colour choices make sense in the context of the game. Brazil in basically the same green as US makes sense as they effectively become one and the same once aligned. Now in current game allies seem to be about to transport the Mexican air unit into the Pacific (it is bright red)- we will see if it gets mistaken for a Japanese unit at some point!

As a Canadian it took me a while to get used to blue and yellow - but I'm down with it now...

I would sooner get those Mexican pilots into the war by having them piloting Hellcats.

Yes, the Mexican air unit is not very good, but the Brazilian one is surprisingly good. In particular, that 4 air-to-ground rating.

My preference is still just to reap the pilot and put him in a plane that does not require a TRS to get into action.

I'm sure the Mexican pilots would love some shiny new Hellcats! And for the Brazilian unit- not being forced to air
base across the amazon basin!
