From what I understand, units in a forest hex or a fortification basicly get a +1 defence to their soft, hard and tank defence, along with up to 3 entrenchment.

The question I have is, if you build a fortification in a forest hex, do you get +2 defence? Or is it pointless to build fortifications in a forest hex, as there is no additional bonus?

Overall there is little benefit to building them in forests, they're better positioned in clear hexes where you will benefit far more from them.
