Question about AI cargo mission

I have been playing COW scenario by scenario since I did not want to play the Chinese side. So when the Chinese side was the human player, I assigned all its units to missions (readying them first) and played the US side.
This worked to my satisfaction until the Okinawa invasion scenario.

The problem is that I cannot get the landing ships to do a cargo mission from the 300 some miles that they are from the landing zone. The cargo video shows the instructor manually sailing his ships within close range, then launching a cargo mission.
Is this necessary or can I get the AI to sail the ships within range and unload their cargo without LUA? If I can, then how? I cannot find any instructions on AI only cargo missions by ship. The plane cargo missions seem to set up fine.

Set the activation time of the Cargo mission to be the time when you want the unload operations to start.

Time taken to travel in hours = (distance in nm) / (speed in kts)

Set the mission to inactive and then give it an activation time of approximately when you think the ships are "close enough."

One issue on that mission is that I couldn't for the life of me get the smaller amphibs to unload their amphibious tanks. It seems like only the LCACs could be assigned to the cargo missions from the LPDs. The LCAC can't dock with the smaller vessels so they have no way to bring the light tanks to shore, and they won't discharge and swim themselves.

I did so. However, I don't see any cargo to unload like the airplane cargo mission. It does not matter whether LCACs are used or the ship has amphib tanks.
Your video did not really cover AI cargo missions. A manual on this mission would really help.

I successfully got air parachute cargo missions to work in a test scenario, even delayed one. However, when trying to create a delayed air parachute mission in this scenario, it will not save the start time for an inactive parachute mission.
I will try to upload file, if it lets me. But it won't.

TH the tanks are loaded on LST's which should be beached. They don't have connecting landing craft. If you look at a picture of one you'll see the front opens and everybody comes rolling out. The LPD's have troops, mortars and ATGM which can be landed by embarked landing craft. In this scenario how are you getting the tanks to the LPD's per your post?

Thanks

Mike

Video 3 covers ship to shore with connectors. Let us know exactly how this is confusing and we'll definitely take a look.

Mike, I believe that I can get the parachute mission to work, but when I try to set a start time for it (having it inactive at beginning), the start time won't survive saving the game and reopening. I found the same thing when trying a ship cargo mission. So I started a thread in tech support.

I did get the same ships to do a cargo mission in a test file, so I think that is the basic problem. Thanks.
