I just downloaded toaw3 and as it was not patched, sought a patch and quickly got a virus(and a bunch of junk). It's been so long since I've had to deal with viruses I've forgotten and am now running windows 7. the process is vmxclient. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are so many bogus websites saying they'll help. Do you know any trustworthy ones?

Sorry in advance if I appear to be flipping out right now. Viruses suck and i feel responsible for involving myself with anything that can result in me getting one.

Too bad about the virus, but for future reference You can
download the patch here :
tm.asp?m=3893465
And good to see you, I thought you disappeared years ago. Have you applied for the BETA in order to check out the 'new' naval stuff ?

Never ever download a patch for anything from anyplace except from the people who put out the software that needs patched. That's Internet 101. Everyone knows that. Can't blame it on Matrix at all.

I launched the game and realized it needed to be patched. I guess I'm just used to steam where they make it a point to always patch the downloads. I saw no patch there on the page either so it didn't occur to me there was a patch and I'd have to go looking for it within the matrix website. I expect too much perhaps.
Since this virus is just waiting for the next TOAW player to search for a patch, let me explain a solution. The malwarebytes antirootkit was able to kill it from safemode. But you have to let it run for a while. I mean, you can't have anything else running and mess with it in any way. It will lock up at times in the process.
