Here is a rough plane in .jpg. I work at 800% zoom when doing the details. Using Gimp.

Needs better cockpit and wing insignia...and full propeller or none
then placed into the top bmp and the alpha bmp also updated

How did you update jptop_alpha? Did you use the same image as jptop or what?

Ive never added a new plane, just new art for existing planes

download the attachment which are grid overlays. And will help in putting the plane in a correct space.
Then you have to input the stats for the plane and add the plane to a scenario by using the editor.

Bmp must be saved without color space information and as 24 bit.
Here is a sky, just drop the plane on it and export(save) as above.

Started using Krita, and trying to use your technique to give plane drawings a 3d look. Can you give a little more how to on getting the 3d look? Iam helping Gters do some Italian planes and would like to match them to your style in Cathartes_Planeside_top_replacement master.zip

I used a fuller brush than a feathered and my strokes were bold and thick, however... Iam beginning to see how it adds up - breeding lots of layers that get back-crossed with the original plane pic.

Search for WitM Mod by Fremen ( airplane art by Dali ), at this forum or in the old Witp, it's include german and italian ships/airplanes.

Also War in West has Italian aircrafts, But in both modifications there are many Italian airplanes missing and personally I would like them (prototypes too). Well done Makee, I really like your zero dark / light effect.
Currently I want to complete the list of Italian aircraft inside the editor and also pics in jplanetside but i am not able to do a correct background, patience...
Then I try to read the various guides etc. but I have many problems to translate and understand everything.

Cleaning up the pics, using copy and past. There needs to be nothing but planes and blue background, then the alpha can be made in a few clicks.

Different Methods...
Gimp control "Eraser"
I. Erase all the color around the plane, then copy and paste the plane to the Jtop.

II. Use "Free Select" to outline the plane, then copy and paste into Jtop.

III. Use "Fuzzy Select" to select the background then Select->Invert to switch to the plane, then copy past into jtop.
